Ann Arbor, Michigan - Cybernet Systems Corporation, a leading defense, robotics, engineering, cyber security and simulation systems development company, today announced a patent pending for technology that enables driverless vehicles to operate in inclement weather conditions including snow, rain, dust, fog, and smoke. This technology was developed as a spin-off of driverless pallet delivery truck testing performed for the US Army during the 2013 and 2014 cold weather season in Michigan.Due to development schedules, system level vehicle testing occurred in the snow and cold season and initially did not operate like it would have in good weather (or in the South or West coasts). New signal processing technology was developed for the driverless vehicle sensors that enabled successful operation in active snow and through deformable terrain. This effort grows from prior work the company has completed implementing automated lift trucks for ammunition handling and Unit-to-Unit Autonomous Resupply Vehicles for the Army based on its DARPA Urban Challenge automation kits. The system supports a wide array of localization and obstacle/pedestrian detection sensors, include logic for automated pallet identification and handling, and currently are built to operate seven vehicle types ranging in size from a Polaris Ranger to a Kalmar RTCH and including commercial civilian vehicles

Here's what attendees can expect to see in the Cybernet Systems Corporation booth (#2381) this year at I/ITSEC:

Centralized Information Information Assurance Management System (CIAMS)

This year, learn about our Centralized Information Assurance Management System (CIAMS), the most robust, cost-saving IA maintenance tool available, built on industry standard virtualization technologies.

CIAMS is available as a rack mountable or virtual server that can be configured for small or large information systems, and provides a centralized IA solution. The Navy and the Marine Corps are already deploying CIAMS on multiple training systems, netting successful results.

MedOne Tool Suite

Quick, Interactive Device Simulation

Cybernet will also feature its "MedOne" tool suite, which is designed to allow non-programmers the ability to quickly construct simulations of medical devices that can interact with simulated soldiers in OneSAF or JSAF.  Through MedOne, a wide variety of medical devices can be simulated and analyzed for effectiveness and impact on doctrine. MedOne leverages the Virtual Systems Integration Lab (VSIL), developed by Cybernet and the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive Research and Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC), which allows for the configuration, execution, control, and monitoring of simulations.

Supportability Wireless Maintenance Assistant (SWMA)

Cybernet to Perform Work with NAWCTSD on Integrated Bridge Navigation System Trainer

Cybernet Systems Corporation Cyber Security Division will perform Information Assurance (IA) and System Security Engineering (SSE) activities to achieve an Authorization to Operate (ATO) for the Integrated Bridge Navigation System (IBNS) trainer located at the Center for Combat Systems (CSCS) Dam Neck, VA.

Cybernet will provide this support as a sub to Alion Science and Technology for the continued design,fabrication, development, testing, maintenance and documentation of the IBNS as part of the NAWCTSD's Mission Rehearsal Tactical Team Trainer (MRT3) Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract for which Alion is a prime.

Cybernet Orlando's Maxon Presenting I/ITSEC Paper

Andrew Maxon, Cyber Security Division Technical Manager for Cybernet, will co-present the paper, "Information Assurance Impacts of Mobile Architecture in a Training System," at this year's Interservice/ Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) on Thursday, Dec. 6 @ 11:30 am in Room W-304A.

The paper, which was co-written by Graham Fleener, IA Manager (IAM) for Project Manager of Training Devices (PM TRADE) in the U.S. Army Program Executive Office  of Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI), was chosen as an honorable mention in this year's I/ITSEC papers submissions.

Because today's Warfighters are immediately familiar with the user interface, training systems can benefit enormously with the integration of mobile architecture into the accreditation boundary. And although this enables the system developers to tap into a wealth of built-in functionality that would otherwise take years to develop, some of the challenges faced in today's continually evolving cyber threat environment are the secure integration of mobile architecture to ensure continued protection of data, and adherence with constantly evolving regulations.

"Our paper addresses the full impacts of mobile architectures within training systems, and how best companies can migrate toward developing and utilizing best practices in mobile," said Maxon. "Mobile Security is a hot topic that will be a large challenge in many future projects and it's an honor to have the opportunity to present our paper at I/ITSEC."

Maxon and Fleener will discuss the significant issues faced by Government Project Managers (PM) as they work to integrate mobile architecture into their initial system designs, as well as Configuration Management and Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) processes.
