An Instant Communications Network for Dismounted Applications

Project Mission | Intellectual Property | Project Status

The Instant Communications Network allows units to operate as a highly effective, coordinated team

PROJECT MISSION

This project showed feasibility of an ad hoc mesh routing overlay for 802.11 implementing an instant" wireless local area network (WLAN) to provide an all weather communication system for use in areas with dense foliage. The WLAN can be deployed into the area where the dismounted team will operate. Nodes combine as relays in a communications network. Each node is an independent transceiver, able to receive and send data to neighboring nodes. Physically, the nodes are very small and housed in a variety of packages (depending on environment).

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

IMR Design.

PROJECT STATUS

Completed for U.S. Army (CECOM).
