PROJECT MISSION

In this effort, Cybernet is working collaboratively with the U.S. Army's Construction and Engineering Laboratory (CERL), a branch of the Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), to integrate our VDM (Vehicle Dynamics Monitor) with CERL's ground damage models. The VDM gathers and stores vehicle dynamics information such as velocity, acceleration, turning radius, and other information by directly measuring such parameters with inertial sensors. Additionally, the VDM is fitted with a GPS/Satcom tracking system, which allows military personnel to monitor training exercises in real time. The ground damage models developed by CERL consume the data collected by the VDM to estimate environmental damage inflicted by vehicles during the monitored training sessions and predict areas that may have suffered severe damage. The integrated solution provides a cost effective method to aid the Army in its mission to maintain over 25 million acres of training grounds.
