Cybernet performed extensive review of robotics simulation software to determine if a functional simulation system could be developed using commercially available graphics software and Cybernet’s force feedback and machine vision tools. The resulting prototype system, Telepresence Toolbox, demonstrated that a commercially valid, functional system could be developed which would provide CAD-model-based programming, haptic feedback, and state-of-the-art visual environments in a modular architecture at a fraction of the cost of existing robotics simulation software. The system would be used for off-line programming, planning, situation/task simulation, training, and supervised remote teleoperation of robotic applications.
