Charles Cohen, Ph.D., Cybernet Systems Corporation’s chief technology officer, will participate in a panel discussion at the Gerald Ford International Airport near Grand Rapids, Michigan, during the airport’s annual innovation update, May 15.
Cohen and other industry experts will discuss emerging trends, areas of focus, and strategic insights for the future of air travel. Scheduled presentations will highlight the latest “FLITE” projects, provide updates from state officials on the future of mobility, and spotlight the next generation of air travel talent developing in the region.
The Ford Launchpad for Innovative Technologies and Entrepreneurship (FLITE) program provides pilot-testing opportunities to businesses developing air travel technology solutions, as well as funding to encourage innovation of new products and services that will operate in a live airport environment.
Cybernet recently completed a successful demonstration of its autonomous material handling technology (AMHT) safety system in a vehicle at Ford International Airport with over 20 attendees, April 2. Cybernet employees highlighted the safety features in manual operation by showing that the vehicle demonstrating the AMHT could not collide with ground support equipment in its work environment. Afterwards, attendees were allowed to drive the vehicle in an attempt to intentionally collide with objects – but they were unable to do so because Cybernet’s safety system prevented all collisions.
