In this continuation of a prior effort, Cybernet is designing and building a compact, portable Automated Coating Removal Tool (ACRT) for Air Force maintainers by leveraging our experience with designing and developing robotic systems. During Phase I, Cybernet demonstrated the ability to robotically remove these coatings, while using force sensing to detect the transition between layers to insure proper repair shape and eliminate damage to the substrate. For this Phase II SBIR effort, Cybernet will focus on developing a very precise, automated, rapid measurement and coating removal system that can precisely grind/sand away aircraft coating and precisely monitor the progress of the process.
