The goal of this project is to research best concepts in the commercial and military arenas to create a Just-In-Time (JIT) aircraft maintenance system to enhance existing aircraft maintenance capabilities, and to develop a concept demonstration for an Automated Maintenance Prediction System (AMP) designed to (a) discover the relationships and dependencies of subsystem faults; (b) leverage the knowledge of these relationships to enable the detection of new faults, and ultimately; (c) determine the recommended maintenance actions without crew debrief. The system is initially being developed for use with the C-130 and will apply to other programs like the F-15.
