Cybernet performed a market evaluation/feasibility study for a proposed rocket/aircraft attitude control technology called a reaction control sphere. The proposed technology, a hollow sphere suspended from a housing attached to the craft, would be capable of spinning at adjustable speeds and attitudes to generate required torque that would allow subtle and controllable attitude change of the craft. This device would solve several important drawbacks to existing technology by accomplishing more attitude control with less mass, less use of fuel, and fewer moving components. Cybernet performed a detailed market study, identified technical challenges to the proposed device, and developed a working set of functional parameters for a commercial reaction control sphere.
