For this effort, Cybernet developed technologies that use, to the greatest extent possible, hardware and sensors presently in development by U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command – Ground Vehicle Systems Center (CCDC GVSC). These hardware systems include a head-mounted display (HMD) and a bone conduction microphone. Utilizing the external vision system of the HMD (or an alternative add-on hardware component), one general capability explored was the integration of gesture recognition to facilitate commander interaction with virtual displays in the HMD, such as interacting with a virtual map. The microphone in the HMD system provides input into a speech recognition system to facilitate voice command of system functions.
